The original part had to meet specific standards according to a governing body in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry known as SAE for Society of Automotive Engineers. It is a collective of professionals that make sure when a part is manufactured & installed in your vehicle it will perform as expected with Safety and Durability you expect when your vehicle is new. That is part of the reason for the "sticker shock" buyers of replacement parts experience when they call their local dealer and inquire about a replacement part.
